3. The Thirteenth Colossus - Shadow Of The Colossus

So far aside from maybe the God of War series there's not been a game thats totally nailed a sense of David vs. Goliath-style scope quite like Shadow of the Colossus. Being you're just playing as one young boy mounted atop a horse that's attempting to take down a string of gigantic mythical creatures, the doing so of which means scaling every part of them in the process.

Although most are ground-based, seeing you clamber up the backs of ankles as Wander clutches onto fur for purchase, the really memorable Colossi are those that take you underwater, or in this case far above the world instead. Not only is the thirteenth Colossus a suitably monstrous beast it's also incredibly elegant motion, with a terrific wingspan ensuring it makes one hell of an entrance - never mind latching onto said wings to take it down.

By this point in the game you'd most likely cottoned onto the overarching message Team ICO were trying to get across in terms of questioning why you were killing these majestic creatures, but you just can't deny how incredibly epic the whole confrontation is.
