10 Promising First & Third-Person Shooters Coming In 2022
8. Earth Defense Force 6
Earth Defense Force is a long running, Japanese third person shooter series which sees players battling hordes of giant alien invaders across various city environments. The sixth entry in the quirky series is a direct sequel to 2017's Earth Defense Force 5, taking place three years after the events of the previous title.
The game was announced during the Tokyo Game Show in 2021, with a trailer which shows players contending with enormous creatures wreaking havoc throughout a completely devastated cityscape. Returning enemies from previous titles can be seen in the short announcement video, including Colonists, Ants, Spiders and Hornets.
Much like many titles over the last couple of years, the game was delayed from it's intended 2021 release into 2022, without a specific date set at this time. The only consoles confirmed to be receiving EDF 6 are currently PlayStation 4 and 5, although a switch release has been speculated. Previous entries have released on Xbox and PC platforms so there is a possibility we will see a multiplatform rollout.
If you are looking to essentially play through a goofy kaiju B-movie, definitely keep your eye on Earth Defense Force 6 for a release in 2022.
