The Halo games are always among the most anticipated releases on the gaming calendar, with fans eagerly dissecting every morsel of information they can get their hands on.

But back when Halo 4 was coming out, one particular information leak didn't just have fans dissecting it - it had them wondering what the hell it even was.

Several months before the game was released, a strange video popped up online, one that appeared to show the game's multiplayer in action. That might not sound too odd at first, but here's the thing: literally everything else about this video is straight-up, unfiltered bonkers.

Not only is the music overly loud and obnoxious, but the gameplay footage itself is playing on an old TV, which is sitting inside... a barn? What? There's also the Twitter handle "@420xSkidxBluntz", which is mentioned via onscreen text, and then, a picture of a bear pops up at the 1:28 mark, for no apparent reason.

It goes without saying that people weren't sure what to make of it all. The gameplay looked like it could be legitimate, but the wider context was just bizarre. Doubters were aplenty, but in the end, we learned that the video really was showing off Halo 4's multiplayer - just in a rather unconventional fashion.

You can check the video out below, but be warned: loud music and NSFW lyrics throughout.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
