10 Reasons Fans Need To Stop Complaining About Breath Of The Wild DLC
6. Hero Mode Is Not Necessarily Out
If you’ve played any Zelda game in the last few years, you’ll certainly be aware of the Hero Mode, or New Game Plus for masochists.
It usually becomes available after beating the story once, and makes it so enemies are twice as lethal to Link, whilst hearts do not appear in the game world and the player must rely on the use of potions and fairies to restore health.
Playing this way takes a more measured approach, as death becomes a far more likely occurrence, but victory a far more rewarding feeling. It’s a favourite of diehard fans of the franchise, so you can imagine their reaction when it seemed it would be cut out of the main game and instead offered as DLC.
Oh dear.
This might not necessarily be the case however, as the official title of what we’re getting is “New Hard Mode”, and it has not yet been confirmed that this is indeed Hero Mode, or that Hero Mode is even gone. Hard Mode may itself be an entirely new creation that offers more significant changes to gameplay, and Hero Mode could still be present for those who want to test their metal on it first.
Of course, I could be completely wrong, Hero Mode is no more, and Hard Mode isn’t free. But really, we all want me to be right about this, don’t we? Admit it.
