10 Reasons To Get Excited About Warhammer 40K: Darktide

5. Nurgle Space Marines

Just like the demons of Nurgle, if the zombie plague shows up then the soldiers of the Death Guard are certain to follow.

The elite followers of Nurgle will make for a terrifying foe. Already genetically enhanced and wearing power armour, their ties to their dark god makes them more resilient than even a regular Astartes.

The inclusion of the Death Guard would be a terrifying way to ramp up the difficulty scale of this game. With unparalleled toughness and a wide option of ranged and melee weaponry, they would present one hell of a challenge. The standard Bolter alone would be devastating against human player character, even before any poisoning or debuff effects from being blessed by Nurgle.

If the Death Guard show up the focus on teamwork and using the environment will be more important than ever. A fallen Space Marine would make a truly memorable enemy for any squad.

My passion for all things Sci Fi goes back to my earliest days, when old VHS copies of Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet gripped my tiny mind with their big, noisy vehicles and terrifying puppets. I'd like to say my taste got more refined over the years, but between the Warhammer, Space Dandy and niche Star Wars EU books, perhaps it just got broader. I've enjoyed games of all calibre since I figured out that dice weren't just for eating, and have written prose ever since I was left unsupervised with some crayons next to a white wall. I got away with it by calling it "schoolwork" for as long as I could, and university helped me keep the charade going a while longer. Since my work began to get published, it's made all those long hours repainting the walls seem worth it.
