10 Reasons You Need To Stop Being Snobby About Mobile Games

1. Some Specific Recommendations

Deus Ex GO
Square Enix

Now you’ve heard my impassioned pleas to take mobile games and hold them tight against your bosom, how about a few recommendations?

I’ve selected a mix of games available on both Android and iOS, from a number of different genres and studios. Give them a go, and leave us your thoughts or other recommendations in the comments below!

Spaceteam - Co-op piloting game. Grab a friend, hit random buttons and pull levers whilst screaming instructions at each other. Local multiplayer (via wifi). Free to play.

Glorkian Warrior: The Trials of Glork - James Kochalka of comics fame teams up with Pixeljam and makes a colourful but deceptively hard Galaga-esque arcade game (try and beat my high score on the world rankings!). £1.88 - currently on offer.

Alphabear - Word game for those who like to show off their vocabulary - challenge your friends to beat your score. Includes collecting bears that like dressing up and roaring. You know, the usual stuff. Free to play.

Plague Inc. - Downloaded by millions people, c’mon you’ve heard of this! Infect the world with deadly diseases. Cackling to oneself completely optional. £0.69

Egg, Inc. - Gorgeous art style for this farming clicker game, very simple, very addictive, very full of eggs. Free to play.

Deus Ex GO - Everyone’s talking about this being the best of the mobile GO series (no that doesn’t include Pokémon) A turn & tile based puzzler, lots of stealth and hacking, lovely blend of Deus Ex design & gameplay. £3.99

Machinarium - Point & click adventure. Won an award or two. Bless this little robot as he melts your stony cold heart. £3.99

Reigns - Make simple binary choices by swiping left or right to manage your kingdom. See how long you can last before death comes for you in the form of rebellion, regicide, conspiracy or unfortunate accident. £2.79

Fortress Legends - Isometric RPG, mashed up with RTS & base defence elements. Lots of features to keep those of you who love the grind happy. Free to play.

Riptide GP: Renegade - A very good racing game, specifically a wave racing game. Perform tricks to earn boosts, delve into a storyline mode & even race online with other players. £2.49

Phoenix lives in the North East of England and gets paid to hide that fact in voiceovers. She's also a writer, a/v editor and someone who spends a frankly ridiculous amount of time gaming. She can't resist an amiibo. She will talk your ear off about videogames, wrestling, comics, bad films and My Little Pony.
