6. A Secret Cheat Code Lets You Skip Almost The Entire Game - NieR: Automata
Though Nier: Automata players committed themselves to breaking the game wide open and uncovering every cheeky secret hidden in its midst, developers PlatinumGames confirmed in 2018 that there was still one secret left for fans to uncover.
And at the start of this year, prolific modder and dataminer Lance McDonald finally found the "final secret" - a cheat code which allows players to skip to the very end of the game after defeating the first boss.
McDonald claims he spent hundreds of hours reverse-engineering the game's data to figure out the cheat code which, when entered after beating the first boss, allows players to skip to the last of the game's many endings.
Nier: Automata's director Yoko Taro also chimed in to confirm that McDonald had indeed found the last remaining secret, though hilariously made light of the fact that it took the Nier community almost four years to do so.
