10 Released Wrestlers Who Will Still Be In WWE 2K22

3. Johnny Gargano

WWE 2K22 Bray Wyatt
2K Games/WWE

Gargano was in exactly the same boat as Kyle O'Reilly.

'Johnny Wrestling' decided against renewing his WWE contract and left on 10 December 2021. Now, Gargano is readying himself for fatherhood (he and wife Candice LeRae are expecting a baby boy in February), which means he's content on the grappling sidelines for now.

The former NXT Champion was a huge part of WWE's product right up until leaving, and 2K might not want to delete him from the character list for no good reason. Yes, Gargano is gone, but that doesn't mean fans won't want to play as him come March.

Hell, some will probs even fancy making his son in the CAW suite and crowning the pair NXT Tag-Team Champs. Seriously though, don't be surprised if Johnny pops up in WWE 2K22 despite letting his contract expire. He, and a few other old-school brand faves like Tommaso Ciampa and Pete Dunne, may be NXT's only representation in the new game.
