You can't have a classic video game without an awesome ending, though a fantastic ending doesn't always mean it's satisfying. Just look at last year's The Last Of Us: it boasted a daring and thought-provoking close, though also proved to be rather controversial and divisive among fans. And what about Half-Life: Episode Two? It left us on a brilliant, agonising cliffhanger, but given that a follow-up game still hasn't arrived over 6 years later, it's difficult to call it satisfying. Whether they left plot threads wide open or simply provoked a mixed response, plenty of great games have had less-than-satisfying endings for many players, but what about those awesome games which managed to stick the landing perfectly? We're talking about the games which wrapped up everything gamers needed closure on, and though most of the franchise-based games in this list continued long past their point of perfect resolution, in most cases these endings have been regarded as narrative high points in their respective series. These games blew us away with their ingenuity, combining fan service with what best suited the story at hand to deliver a unique experience like no other. Did we miss an immensely satisfying ending?
