10 Scariest Areas In Dark & Demon's Souls History

4. Dark Souls 3 - Irithyll Dungeon

As Dark Souls 3 demonstrated, nothing with the word “dungeon” in its name can be anything good. Players discovered this for themselves when they venture to the Irithyll Dungeon, located on the outskirts of the ethereal Boreal Valley.

Only moments into this area, players are treated to a nasty jump scare. Picking up an item on a corpse near the entrance triggers a bloodcurdling scream that'll get you every time.

And things only get worse.

Seen walking down the next hallway is any Dark Souls 3 player’s worst nightmare: a jailer. Menacing hooded figures carrying a red-hot brand, these enemies have the power to shrink your health bar. Throw in other horrific creatures like writhing maggot-infested beasts, living cages, and the dreaded Basilisks, and it's easy to see why these dungeons make for the stuff of nightmares.

With hazards and traps waiting for you at every corner, navigating this area is a harrowing ordeal for new and veteran players alike. Its squalid atmosphere continuing to send shivers down our spines every time we enter this level, this is one portion of Souls history we aim to spend as little time in as possible.
