In Don't Starve, you're trying to survive against the forces of nature. This normally means dealing with low resources and changing temperatures, but it can also be more literal if the game catches you being too greedy.

One of the most fundamental resources in Don't Starve is wood. You need it for a lot of crafting recipes, but fortunately, the forests in the game are quite abundant.

Unfortunately, they are also guarded by an angry tree demon that will attack you if he spots you slaughtering his wooden kin.

The so-called Treeguard is one of Don't Starve's most infamous bosses, as he appears in your game when you least expect it, when you're mindlessly harvesting wood.

The guard will look like a regular tree until you chop one down a little too close to him, at which point he will pull himself out of the ground and immediately attack you for your transgressions against all woodkind.

The experience is just as scary as it is annoying, as once the Treeguard appears, he pretty much will never stop chasing you.

Thankfully, you can make him non-hostile by redeeming yourself and planting some new trees in front of him.
