6. The Novelty Foam Finger Hand Cannon - Dead Space 2

The world of Dead Space is horrifying and relentlessly unsettling. Well, unless you pop a giant red foam sports finger on Isaac or Gabe’s hand. Then it’s kinda funny.

The mysterious foam finger bears no obvious manufacturer but its description reads “Real space. Real terror. Real foam.” You can unlock it once you’ve finished the game on Hard Core mode. Its primary fire is described as “BANG BANG” and its secondary option as “pew pew”. Utilising either will result in Isaac exclaiming the relevant phrase as he shoots.

Perhaps the only sensible part of all this is that the finger doesn’t require ammunition and doesn’t have a crosshair, but it will explode most enemies you point it at in one shot. Go team Isaac I guess?

Some people have argued the novelty weapon ruins the tone and immersion of the game but to get it you have to play through the entire game multiple times, at least once on Hard Core mode so I’m in the camp of “You’ve earned it, enjoy your fun oversized red foam hand gun.”
