4. The Xenomorph - Alien Isolation
Although Alien Isolation is an excellent game in its own right, it deserves extra praise since this survival horror flawlessly emulates the tension of Ridley Scott's sci-fi masterpiece.
The reason why Creative Assembly's adaptation works so well is because the Xenomorph is freaking terrifying. Because this star-beast can kill you in an instant, you can never rest easy. When you enter an empty room, you know the extra-terrestrial can burst from a vent at any moment, and slaughter you. And once this monstrosity has you in its sights, there's next to nothing you can do to shake it.
Even though it's annoying to watch the Xenomorph kill you over and over, the game wouldn't work any other way. For Alien Isolation to capture the atmosphere of the source material, you should have a slim chance of survival every time the haunting creature is nearby.
If you could overpower or outrun the alien with ease, it would be a disservice to the beloved property. Yes, the Xenomorph is a nightmare to face. Yes, it's going to murder you dozens of times and lay eggs in your face. But if you're a true Alien fan, you wouldn't want it any other way.
