This entry is bound to raise a few eyebrows. After all, if mods were created specifically to remove the ‘boring’ Peragus segment from the game, the intro can’t be that good, right?

Well, picture the scene. You’re adrift in an asteroid field. A full quarter of your ship’s hull has been torn away. The engines are inoperative. Sparks leap from exposed wires. A corpse lies in the hold. The player character, the one you only just created, is at death’s door. And your only hope is a badly damaged droid.

Now picture the rest of the sequence. There’s the dramatic, chilling tale of a crew systematically slaughtered by a cold-blooded assassin they never realised was among them. And in the midst of this you have the mystery of how you came to be there, of who the enemy really is, of who is telling the truth, and whether you truly are the last of the Jedi.

Take the time to answer those questions and you open up a layer of meaning that changes everything going forward. KOTOR 2’s intro is not tedious: pay attention and it is an intellectual tour de force.

Marcellus Huisamen hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
