10 Shocking Video Game Deaths You Never Saw Coming
Death comes for us all, but that doesn't mean anyone knows when!

Death happens a lot in video games - as many Souls-like fans would surely agree. You die to bosses, enemies, obstacles - pretty much every part of your environment is some kind of a death trap.
Well, at least all of these dangers are pretty obvious, right? Well, in some games, death can take the form of the most inconspicuous and mundane thing you have ever seen.
Sometimes, dying in a video game doesn’t happen on huge obstacle courses or elaborate boss fights. Instead, you might die doing innocent things such as walking, talking, enjoying peaceful outdoor activities, or even kissing your loved ones!
These types of possible deaths are more effective at killing the player than regular dangers, as you can never expect when the seemingly harmless task you’re doing is going to be your end.
They’re sudden, they’re silent, and the only way you know they’re coming for you is when you’re already dead on the floor.
If you want to prepare yourself for the unexpected, or you’re just curious to find out what kind of deceptively harmless tasks hide a terrible danger, the following list is for you!
10. Death By Adorable Duckling - Crusader Kings III

Crusader Kings III offers a realistic simulation of life in the Dark Ages. This, of course, includes all the awful deaths that awaited much of the medieval population, such as plagues, torture, and getting your head chopped off by some mad king just because he didn't like the way you looked at him.
However, the scope of all the different ways your Crusader Kings character can visit Kingdom Come actually goes beyond the expected. In fact, one of the rarest deaths in the game happens because your character finds an adorable little duckling.
The event in question is a unique encounter in which you come across a tiny baby duck while taking a stroll. You are given a few options as to how you want to interact with it, and one of them, "Follow the duck," might seem harmless, but it can secretly be the end of your cuteness-obsessed ruler.
Although the choice typically means lowering your stress by looking at a cute duck, there is an extremely rare outcome in which your character finds their new fluffy friend to be so cute that it gives them a heart attack and they die!
Well, all things considered, it's not the worst way to go.
