10 Simple Facts Most Gamers Don't Know
2. Grand Theft Auto V Sold 20 MILLION Copies In 2020 Alone
Grand Theft Auto V was first released back in September 2013, before the PS4 and Xbox One had even emerged on the market.
Despite that, and with Rockstar having released Red Dead Redemption 2 since, it's staggering to learn that not only has GTA V sold 140 million copies in its lifetime, but an entire 20 million of them were in 2020 alone. Yup.
Tough though it is to accept that there's still any gamer on the planet who wants to play GTA V but hasn't, 2020 marked the game's best-selling year since its 2013 launch.
Even considering its continued life thanks to Grand Theft Auto Online, it's still an unfathomable glow-up from Grand Theft Auto IV's comparatively meagre sales of "only" 25 million.
Plus, with GTA V due to get a next-gen re-release for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, the game's clearly far from done printing money at retail yet - let alone where microtransactions are concerned.
Don't count on GTA VI arriving any time soon, then.
