10 Super Mario Facts You Probably Never Knew

5. Boo€™s Conceptual Design Was inspired By Takashi Tezuka€™s Wife

Super Mario - Boo Within the Super Mario franchise, the ghostly forms known as Boos were originally created by Yoshi designer Takashi Tezuka. Their appearance was endearingly inspired by Tezuka€™s wife after a common dispute in the home. According to an interview with Shigeru Miyamoto regarding Super Mario Bros. 3, Tezuka had been spending an enormous amount of time in the office working on his miraculous creations, that his wife was more than a little frustrated when his home life started to take the back seat. Tezuka€™s wife was not known for her angry outbursts, so when he wandered in from a late night at the Nintendo office, he got a little surprise when she suddenly erupted in frustration. From that moment on, the Boos were created so that when Mario looks them in the eye they quiver and shy away, but when his back his turned their wrath is unleashed. It€™s odd to think a domestic dispute can inspire such an event, but it€™s even stranger when you realise Boos iconic high-pitched cackle is just Bowser€™s infamous laugh alarmingly sped up.
