10 Super Mario Levels That Were Just Plain Unfair

4. Tubular - Super Mario World

What made Super Mario World such a special game was its striking vibrancy in colouring and expansive world themes, both of which combined nicely to create some of the most solid levels Nintendo had ever produced at the time. With that being noted, not sure what happened when it came time to sit down and design Tubular, the game's Special Zone's second level.

Essentially a Mario Maker way ahead of its time, Tubular is available to either Mario or Luigi but requires them to complete almost the entire level using the Balloon power up. Movement becomes painfully floaty and players will have to navigate in every single direction to avoid the cruel amount of enemies the game puts on their path.

From Koopa Paratroopas flying up and down the screen, to the constant stream of fireballs being flung from the Volcano Lotuses, this level is pretty much a headache from start to finish. There is, however, one small reward to claim: if players are able to complete the level and pass the giant gate whilst still using the power up, they'll receive a Super Mushroom. It's something, right?
