10 Super Mario Levels That Were Just Plain Unfair
5. Rainbow Ride - Super Mario 64
Though the remastered DS version helped fix some, but certainly not all, of the levels issues, Rainbow Ride is still one of the most underwhelming and unfair levels in Mario history. There's nothing worse in video games than a level that is both boring and difficult, but somehow Rainbow Ride strikes both of these from the second it kicks off.
Supposedly the grand finale to a timeless classic, Rainbow Ride can be found in the upper levels of Princess Peach's castle in a small hole in a wall next to Tick Tock Clock, another unfair level coincidentally.
Love or hate the camera mechanics of Super Mario 64, every gamer will admit that this level is really where its shortcomings are brought front and centre. The majority of the level is just a painfully slow carpet ride featuring some inch-perfect jumps and challenges that the game simply can't keep up with for the most part. All of the stars in the level are either boring to go after or painfully frustrating to obtain, and so many players must just skip past this dreadful carpet ride on their way to the final showdown with Bowser.
