It’s “a game about having crippling claustrophobia”. It’s about finding your service dog. At this stage, only one thing is for sure: it aims directly at the bowels, in more ways than one. But also takes its premise very seriously and infuses gamers with that fear using an extremely confined, suffocating field of view and the perfect excuse to outfit it: the demo slips his protagonist through the rather moist sewers during a storm. Cramped in this paradoxical situation, a nightmarish underworld starts reflecting the deepest inner reversals.
What Akuma Kira, the developer, achieved with her short sample is not only an authentic, absorbing mood, but an indisputably engrossing way to exploit it. The early access piece, although suffering from certain clichés, allows its vision to clasp everything and keep it that way all along, without neglecting the progressively more bizarre and disquieting surroundings.
The whole thing leaves you wanting more. And, happily, the Kickstarter project just reached its funding goal.
