10 TERRIBLE Trailers That Gave You Awesome Video Games

7. Mortal Kombat 11

Not as much an objectively "bad trailer" as the rest, Mortal Kombat 11's reveal rubbed fans up the wrong way thanks to featuring the musical backing of rap, instead of rock or electronica.

With Mortal Kombat known for the iconic Techno Syndrome track by The Immortals - something that featured in the 1995 movie, but NetherRealm had routinely tried to distance themselves from since - the reception to MK11 was "Yup, the action looks promising, but what's with that song?!"

Thankfully, going forward, NetherRealm would completely embrace the pop culture fireball that was the first Mortal Kombat movie. MK11's launch trailer saw the movie theme back a Mortal Kombat game for the first time, and they even dropped DLC that let you play as original actors Christopher Lambert, Linden Ashby and Bridgette Wilson-Sampras (Raiden, Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade, respectively).

Mortal Kombat 11 is a career-best effort from the team, the best game in the series and arguably in the top 10 best fighting games of all time. It's safe to say they recovered very well.
