10 Terrifying Characters From Non-Horror Video Games
5. Chaurus + Falmer - Skyrim
Bethesda's Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim remains one of the most important, influential and acclaimed first person open-world games ever released and certainly possesses more than a few frights for a game that isn't exactly in the horror genre.
Without a doubt, the game's Chaurus and Falmer enemies show Skyrim at its very scariest. The Chaurus are a disgustingly scary insect that lurk around the murkiest parts of the world and shoot poison at the player on sight, as well as packing a punch when in close combat. The skittering of their feet on the ground and the snarling noises they make when they're attacking combine to make these guys the villains every Skyrim player hates finding.
The once proud race of Skyrim's Snow Elves, the Falmer are hulking humanoids lurking in the underbelly of Skyrim's deepest and darkest caverns. Also known as 'The Betrayed', these horrid creatures possess a slightly tragic backstory and, when stumbled across, will reveal themselves to be blind, pale and sickly moist to the touch. The Falmer carry poisonous effects, pack a powerful punch and will catch out even the most experienced of players every now and again.
