10 Terrifying Characters From Non-Horror Video Games

6. Chauncey - Luigi's Mansion

If there is one thing that the horror world has attempted to tell us after all these years, it's that babies are still the scariest things in the world.

The infant boss from Area 1 of the original Luigi's Mansion, Chauncey could easily be mistaken as being an enemy plucked straight from the set of a horror film.

Ominously filling the room with sinister laughing, once Luigi discovers Chauncey, the terror is pumped to a new level with the horror-styled music and the continued laughing as the infant grows bigger and bigger. Despite being a petrifying ghost, Chauncey is still a kid at heart and will open up this fight by asking if you want to play, which somehow makes this encounter even scarier.

Everything from the dummy in his mouth, the lightning quick way he can shoot across player's screens, or his big wide yellow eyes help make this a memorably scary addition to the Mario universe. When this troublesome infant does eventually find himself sucked up in Luigi's vacuum, there's every chance players might just find themselves catching their breath. Luigi really is braver than Mario after all.
