10 Things Only Disney Infinity Fans Will Understand
4. The Magical Mystery Of Blind Packs
The marketing genius of blind packs has been teasing and tormenting us for decades in various forms. The term might be new to you, but if you're a collector you would have probably come into contact with blind packs at some point. These are the collectable items which are sold in closed packaging, the kind where you don't know what you're paying for. Often the domain of collectable trading cards and other small, affordable trinkets, it's a sales trick which might seem abusive to an outsider, but to the collector it's the blind pack aspect which makes it even more enticing. Disney Infinity cashes in here with the Power Pack sets, sold in blind packs of two, either as character abilities or game customization. You could get one of each, or two of one type, and you won't know what you've got until you've paid for it and can rip the plastic pack open with your teeth, right there in the store. The small plastic discs are solidly constructed, with individual artwork and so on, so you're not paying for a flimsy bit of garbage, but it's still a pretty audacious way of selling what could have effectively just been sold as downloadable extras.
Game-obsessed since the moment I could twiddle both thumbs independently. Equally enthralled by all the genres of music that your parents warned you about.
