10 Things Everybody Hates About AMAZING Video Games

2. The Blatant Padding - Final Fantasy VII Remake

After so many years of waiting, it's truly surprising that Final Fantasy VII Remake turned out as great as it did - a reverent, gorgeous RPG epic that stands as one of the most ambitious remakes of all time.

It's just a shame about all that padding, though.

At its core, FFVII Remake is a 20-hour game distended into a flabby 30-hour package, with Square Enix stretching the critical path out in a presumed attempt to make it seem more value-rich.

But the bloat is so head-smackingly obvious throughout: the repetitive dungeons, forced walking and squeeze-through sections, fiddly button activations, tedious crane puzzle, and of course the dreaded, interminable late-game trek through Hojo's Lab.

It is a game desperate for you to believe that it's long enough and a "real AAA game," rather than one-third of one.

Yet for those of us who preface quality over quantity - not to mention not wasting our free time on chore-heavy gameplay - a more streamlined experience would've been better.

Less certainly would've been more, at least where mandatory content is concerned, but given the game's success, it seems unlikely that Square Enix will deviate from this formula for the upcoming sequel, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
