10 Things Only Animal Crossing Fans Understand
3. So Like, What's The Point? This IS The Point!
'So, that's all you do? What's the point?' Every time you've tried to turn a friend onto Animal Crossing, you'll get that question and not have any other answer but 'well, yeah!' This is a series that never tries to be more than what it is, but not in a lazy or unambitious way. The gamess embrace their identity and never deter from it.
Understated simplicity is a massive component that defines the unique beauty of Animal Crossing. There are no boss fights or intense plots, just a life simulator where you live with the most impossibly nice neighbors you could ever hope to have. There are no conflicts, no woes, just pure serenity and consistent debt (the most realistic part of the game). Whether your personal life is stressful or pitch-perfect, you turn to AC because few other titles offer such effective escapism.
Nintendo could always insist that there be more mechanics added to make the game more accessible, but Animal Crossing has never needed it. After all, if a game that champions chores, talking, and catching creatures/bugs is capable of generating massive hype, clearly they're doing something right. You may not be slaying dragons or doing anything crazy, but that doesn't mean you aren't playing something special.
