10 Things Star Wars Games ALWAYS Get Wrong

4. "Core" Force Powers

Developers also seem to rely way too heavily on a "core" set of Force powers, namely Push, Pull, Jump, and Speed.

Games beyond count such as KOTOR, Jedi Outcast, and Jedi Power Battles, tend to reduce the Force to these four main abilities, adding inconsistent others along the way.

Whilst there is nothing inherently wrong with these abilities, developers are missing out on so much more by focusing in on this core quartet.

Divisive as some may be, just look at some of the newer abilities introduced in the movies. Luke's astral projection, Ben and Rey's ability to pass physical objects through the Force, and Kylo Ren freezing blaster blots in mid air are huge departures from the conventional wisdom but add to "the great mystery" of the Force.

Further examples from the wealth of books and comics include Darth Caedus' ability to Flow-Walk through time, Mara Jade's predilection for using the Force to nip arteries closed, and the palpable waves of pure hatred which powerful Sith lords can conjure.

There is so much more to the Force than just four basic powers, and if game developers would embrace a larger view of the Force we could end up with some truly memorable gaming experiences.
