10 Things We Desperately Hope To See In The Mortal Kombat Film
3. Kitana And Sindel
In the games, sfter Shao Kahn's forces defeated the realm of Edenia in Mortal Kombat, it was absorbed into Outworld. Shao Kahn then had the Edenian king murdered, married the queen, Sindel, and adopted her daughter, Kitana. Kitana was devastated to watch her world being torn asunder and her people turned into slaves. Hoping to end her stepfather's tyranny once and for all, Kitana vowed to fight on behalf of Earthrealm against Outworld.
Because she has witnessed the worst outcome possible in Mortal Kombat, including Kitana in the film is pivotal since she lets the audience knows what is on the line. Having her explain to Earthrealm's champions that they may suffer the same fate as her world will make viewers more invested in the plot.
Kitana may have been absent from the trailer but that doesn't mean she won't appear. Considering her trademark fan is visible in one shot in the teaser and her clone, Mileena, will serve as an antagonist, fans have yet to rule out Kitana showing up.
Because Sindel plays a vital role in Shao Kahn's plan to inevitably invade Earth, Kitana's mother should be alluded to in some way too, possibly in a post-credits scene.
