10 Things You Didn’t Know About The Last Of Us
1. The Story Of Ish
Our final entry looks
at that sweet, sweet lore surrounding The Last Of Us. You know the stuff: data entries, books, journals
and diaries that you read two of and never pick up again. Well, some of us do read those and if you did, you’ll
know about Ish.
During the sequence in the sewer that's crawling with all different types of infected, the player can find notes and messages left by an off-screen character named Ish. Ish was a survivor who helped raise a community in the sewers, safe from the infected above.
At one point, however, someone overlooked their defences and let the infected in. The entire place became overrun and that’s the result Joel and Ellie uncover. Ish escaped into the suburbs, likely leaving the sign outside the sewer that warns others the place is infested.
After Ish escapes to the suburbs, it’s unknown whether or not they survive. Though, in one of The Last Of Us’ multiplayer maps set on the beach by the bridge, players can see a message from Ish. It reads, “Ish was here … wish someone else was too.”
A sad note, but one that hopefully signifies their movement from the suburbs out of the city.
