10 Things You Didn’t Know About The Last Of Us
8. Bill’s Hinted Homosexuality
During the earlier parts of the game Joel and Ellie enter Bill’s Town, a large area maintained by Bill, a misanthropic survivor who doesn’t want nothing to do with no one.
He keeps to himself in an effort to stay alive and has prepared traps all around the place, stopping anyone, infected or not, from bothering him. During your visit to Bill’s Town there’ll be several hints at Bill’s past, such as his partner, Frank, and the fact they were lovers.
Bill tells Joel he should leave Ellie, just like how Bill left Frank, as he knew he’d get him killed sooner or later. The trio later find Frank, who has committed suicide in an abandoned home, due to being bitten by an infected.
Bill softens in the moment but later deflects the trauma, “Well, f**k him.” And moves on. However, in the moment he does refer to him as his partner. Partner is subjective based on the context of love or survival, but considering Ellie steals a homosexual porn magazine on her way out which she jokes, "The pages are stuck together", it’s an interesting take on Bill’s character.
