10 Things You Didn’t Know About The Last Of Us

4. AND An Unreleased Ending Scene

Last of Us 2 Ellie
Naughty Dog

From an alternate, conceptual ending to a straight up unreleased version, Druckmann clearly had a lot going on with the project as a whole. It’s incredible he managed to scale everything down and streamline it to be the masterpiece that The Last Of Us is. At a live musical performance to celebrate the game’s soundtrack, Druckmann came out to gift those in attendance a viewing of exclusive footage. A sort of epilogue, if you will.

Though it's unknown as to where it fits in the canon now, it focuses on Joel and Ellie.

Four years after the end of the game, now at Tommy’s dam, Ellie is listening to music in her room. Joel enters and talks about plans of marriage, as Tommy wants Joel to marry a woman named Esther. After the conversation, Joel surprises Ellie with a guitar, a nod to their previous conversation about singing and learning to play said instrument. Joel leaves and Ellie attempts to play the guitar by herself.

It’s nothing ground-breaking, but a nice addition back when we had no idea if Joel and Ellie’s journey was over or not.
