10 Things You Didn’t Know About The Last Of Us
3. Several Rare Combat Interactions
Endings aside, The Last Of Us is a combat-heavy experience. Beyond teaching Ellie to whistle and hearing her make cheesy jokes, you’ll be met by hundreds of bandits, scavengers and infected, all looking to see what you’ve got.
Developers Naughty Dog were meticulous in their combat, as you’d expect from the creators of the Uncharted series. There are certain animations that you may have never seen.
For example, stairs are a big one. You can straight up boot people down stairs. Then, if you’re still swamped by enemies, you could then turn around, grab a guy and throw them over your shoulder to meet his friend at the bottom.
These environmental animations are rare but there are a few more examples.
For instance, ledges or counters. You can pull someone by the legs straight off a table. Though, the same can be done to you, so watch out. You can also smash someone’s face against the corner of said counter, for an instant-kill.
Then, if you beat a scavenger into a pulp, or maybe they run out of ammo, or they’re the last of the enemies standing, they’ll whimper. Point your gun at them and they’ll beg for their lives, kneeling on the ground, crying.
It's then on you, whether you pull the trigger.
