10 Things You Somehow Missed In The Last Of Us

Episode 5 of The Last of Us pays tribute to Naughty Dog's console based version yet again with another easily missable piece of obscure detail.

As Ellie and Joel traverse Kansas City's subterranean tunnels with their new traveling companions Henry and Sam, the group comes across a room that had once been adapted into a classroom by survivors.

Surrounded by painted walls more befitting of a nursery than a post apocalyptic bunker. Ellie and Sam find toys and comic books untouched by the end of the world - including a series named Savage Starlight that both children happen to adore.

In addition to inspiring the franchise's iconic soundbite of "Endure and Survive" - incidentally the title of the episode - Savage Starlight is one of the game's more celebrated collectables. The Last of Us: Part I features 14 collectable comics scattered across various locations across the game, a callback that would have gone missed by anyone getting their first taste of Neill Druckmann's world through HBO's adaptation.

The comic also presents another opportunity for the Holmes and Watson-esque duo of Uncharted and The Last of Us to gleefully cram in more Easter Eggs. A DLC for Uncharted 4's online multiplayer mode allows the player to select a futuristic space suit style skin called Savage Starlight for their character, while Nathan Drake's daughter Cassie also has a poster dedicated to the series in her bedroom.
