The Aztec and Egyptian maps are likely the most memorable parts of Goldeneye, which is funny considering they could only be unlocked after beating the game on its hardest difficulty settings.

The two secret levels were obtainable after completing all the other missions in the game on the Secret Agent and 00 Agent settings.

Unlike the other maps in the game, Aztec and Egyptian didn't shy away from toying with some pretty bonkers concepts. The Egyptian, for example, had you defeat the legendary baron Samedi while exploring an ancient Egyptian tomb, while the Aztec took place in a secret rocket base built beneath a jungle temple.

Aside from the original layouts of the levels, Aztec and Egyptian also delivered some fresh ideas in the challenge department. The levels were clearly more elaborate and more difficult to traverse, which was a great way to keep players hooked for longer.

On top of that, completing these missions let you obtain the iconic Golden Gun, which could only have one bullet in its magazine at a time, but can kill any enemy in the game. The gun was a great way to celebrate your accomplishments and really show off mastering GoldenEye 007.
