10 Times Creators Sneakily Inserted Themselves Into Video Games
6. Todd Howard - Fallout 4
Most developer cameos are done just for fun, but when a game producer puts himself into his own game, depicted as Napoleon during his famous crossing of the Alps, it really makes you question a few things.
In Fallout 4, there are plenty of historical paintings featuring important figures such as the US Founding Fathers and the emperor of nineteenth-century France himself, Napoleon Bonaparte. Except Napoleon isn't himself at all. He's actually Todd Howard, the executive producer over at Bethesda Game Studios, dressed in Napoleon's clothing.
The Todd Bonaparte painting can be spotted (and admired) over at the Dugout Inn in Diamond City. It's a bit hard to notice Todd's likeness at first glance, but once you zoom in, there's no doubt.
Now, given the following Todd has on the internet, on top of his meme status as the seller of all things that "just work," it makes sense that Fallout 4's developers would put him into the game in such a majestic manner. However, if this was somehow Todd's idea, let's just hope it's not a sign of him developing a "Napoleon complex."
