10 Times In Gaming You Got SCAMMED
6. Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk 2077 was undeniably one of the most anticipated video games of the last few years, with CD Projekt Red effectively hyping their action-RPG to be a groundbreaking once-in-a-generation experience.
But the game ended up suffering through one of the most disastrous launches in recent video game history, as it was littered with bugs across platforms and plagued with especially poor performance on last-gen consoles.
CD Projekt Red rightly came under fire for not showing off gameplay footage on PS4 and Xbox One before release, preventing players from making fully informed purchasing decisions.
Console performance was plagued by frequent crashes, framerate drops to under 20fps, textures failing to load, and volatile, unpredictable glitches.
The backlash was severe enough that both Sony and Microsoft offered refunds to dissatisfied players, with Sony even removing the game from their storefront for more than six months until it was patched into shape.
Though the PC version of the game fared better, it too wasn't free from glaring technical issues, leaving many to conclude that CD Projekt Red shoved the game out the door because they knew it'd be a massive commercial success despite not being ready for release.
While it was indeed a stonking hit, the costs associated with fixing the game caused the company's Q1 2021 profits to take a substantial hit.
Though Cyberpunk has received substantial patches since release, the PS4 and Xbox One versions remain unsatisfactory to many, with the PS4's disc version even recently being rendered temporarily unplayable due to a bug.
