10 Times Music Made A Video Game INCREDIBLE
5. The Last Of Us - Vanishing Grace
The Last Of Us is a game which is brutal and delicate in equal measure, so it’s no surprise it has a soundtrack to match. Of all of the tracks in the game though, Vanishing Grace is probably the most touching.
Though much of the game is spent crawling around dark corners, sneaking past zombies and battling your way through hoards, Vanishing Grace comes during one of the few flourishes of brightness. The soft, slow song leaves each note echoing, as the game finally allows you a brief moment of peace.
By the time Vanishing Grace starts, you’ve well and truly earned it.
Vanishing Grace happens during what many would call The Last Of Us’ best moment: the giraffe scene. Joel and Ellie encounter a herd of giraffes, and the gentle beasts serve as timely reminders that life goes on, and there is still hope in the world. Life... uh... finds a way.
The touching innocence of this moment reminds us that Ellie is just a child in all this madness, and that even as mankind succumbs to infection, our protagonists still haven’t lost their humanity.
