10 Times Music Made A Video Game INCREDIBLE

4. Saint’s Row IV - What Is Love?

From the sublime to the ridiculous. Once Saint’s Row stopped trying to be slightly dafter Grand Theft Auto clone and went for full on silliness, it became a much better game for it.

There’s a few moments which personify the newer off the wall approach: the Tron style obstacle course while an alien recites Macbeth, taking on a giant can of energy drink, the dildo bat... of all of them though, there’s one moment which uses a bit of music to elevate it to an incredible level.

During the final sequence of Saint’s Row IV, the Boss takes a pod to make their way out of Zinyak’s ship. Haddaway’s What Is Love? starts playing on the radio (somehow), and the Boss yells it’s their jam and cranks the music up.

Blasting through an alien ship isn’t all that crazy by Saint’s Row’s standards, even as you twist through corridors and fire laser beams at will. Set to What Is Love? though, the moment is elevated.

It eclipses another musical Saint’s Row moment, where the Boss and Pierce sing Paula Abdul’s Opposites Attract as they drive around town.
