10 Times Video Game Publishers Insulted Their Fans
5. Bethesda Locks Fallout 3's 'True Ending' Behind Paid DLC
So you confronted Colonel Autumn in the Water Purifier, gave him a good spanking and sent the Enclave running for the hills. The Capital Wasteland's remaining human population was saved from being eradicated and everyone lived happily ever after.
Or did they?
It's for you to decide whether anyone can truly be safe in a world shared with Deathclaws and Feral Ghouls, but one thing's for sure - the Brotherhood of Steel and Enclave's war wasn't over. If you wanted to see how Fallout 3 really ended, you'd have to fork over more cash first.
Only by purchasing Broken Steel could those that had already completed the campaign continue to explore the Capital Wasteland which, for an open world RPG, was nonsense, both because of the precedence set by Black Isles' Fallout 2 and Beth's own Elder Scrolls. And yet there we were, dumbfounded by Beth's decision to deny players the opportunity to keep on playing to round up any loose ends without first parting ways with more notes.
Had the option been separated from Broken Steel and provided at no extra cost, nobody would have batted an eyelid. But hey, what's done is done. At least Bethesda learned from its mistake for the series' jaunt to Boston.
