4. Mushroom Effects - Robopon Ring And Cross

The forgotten half-brother of Pokémon, Robopon really should have been more popular in its time, as it allowed you to do a ton of things that you'd never get to do in the more popular franchise. This was most notable in the fact that you could do magic mushrooms in Robopon 2.

Well, you could get mushrooms that were magical, anyways. And, much like the real deal, there was a chance of you possibly getting a negative result from using this forbidden veg.

Because you'd trade these colourful fungi in to get spirits in return. While they largely offered positive things, like exp. boost and healing, some spirits were decidedly less friendly.

When recruiting a ghostly pal, you could often find your money or items thrown out by them, or for the prices in stores to increase. Mercifully, these effects would be temporary, but it still wasn't exactly a treat to see your valuables thrown in the trash, and to be unable to buy anything to replace them.

With one spirit offering the incredibly valuable ability of unfreezing fossilised robots - who are some of the best in the game - many players likely ran this roulette for some time until they could get the right spirit companion. Or went and played some more Pokémon instead.
