Now reaching close to thirty years in gaming, the widely recognised Sonic The Hedgehog has gone through many iterations through the years. From the classic 2D titles to modern 3D entries, there's been a constant evolutionary process. So too has the voice of Sonic changed several times across the decades.

Typically, voice actors for Sonic The Hedgehog carry over into other media, lending their performance to cartoon shows as well as video games. At first the character was voiced by Jaleel White for "Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog" in the nineties.

Many gamers however are most familiar with Jason Griffith who took the reins throughout the 2000s, beginning with Sonic X. He would portray the Hedgehog sixteen times in the video game scene from Sonic Rush on the DS all the way through to Sonic and SEGA All Stars Racing. For the most part, he embodied the character's cocky attitude and always delivered a strong performance.

Jason Griffith had played the blue bur longer than any other actor, until the Hedgehog's voice was changed for Roger Craig Smith from 2010 onwards. Surprisingly, Smith wasn't brought on for the recent Sonic The Hedgehog movie as that task fell to actor Ben Schwartz.
