10 Titles To Play If You Love Telltale Games
6. Deponia
From developers Daedelic Entertainment in Germany, Deponia is the traditional love story of boy meets girl.
You play as Rufus, a young man with the aspirations of every Disney princess: escaping his village of junk so that he can experience the beauty of the world and leave behind his pitiful social status. And, just like Disney’s leading ladies, he is written to fall in love. Only this time the romantic interest is a girl named Goal, a lady who lives in a floating palace above the clouds, has three distinct personalities because of a chip in her head and possesses the power to blow up the entire planet.
It also has an underlying power struggle between the rich and poor, but its tale is ultimately about two lost souls coming together and changing because of their bond.
With dry humour reflective of Lucas Arts games from the 90s, simple point-and-click gameplay and stunning 2D animation, Deponia is a reminder of why everyone fell in love with the adventure genre in the first place. Telltale fans will eat up its visual aesthetics, gripping story and fascinating personalities, and it is an adventure they will want to play repeatedly instead of leaving to collect figurative dust.
