10 Unconfirmed Video Games We Know Are In Development
3. Splinter Cell
Over the past few years, Ubisoft has focused more on creating shared worlds and multiplayer experiences than single-player ones. As such, it has quietly become the industry's best games-as-service developer.
That being said, the publisher still takes the time to make single-player experiences, whether it's Assassin's Creed, Watch Dogs (as mentioned at the start of this list), or the ethereal Beyond Good & Evil. One series inexplicably missing from the past few years though, has been Splinter Cell.
Splinter Cell: Conviction marked a downturn for the series following an initial reveal that showcased a less stealthy experience, and fans weren't pleased. After a few years, the sequel resurfaced as a more typical Splinter Cell, but fans were sullied by then. Blacklist came next in 2013 and it was ridiculously underrated game, and failed to meet sales expectations. Consequently, the franchise has been fairly quiet since 2013.
All that being said, a brand new Splinter Cell has allegedly been in development for some time. Ubisoft founder Jade Raymond, who has since left the company, said in an interview with Gamereactor that before she left they were working on a new entry in the series. Also, the infamous Walmart Canada leak from last year that outed Rage 2 and more, listed Splinter Cell as upcoming release.
