10 Unexpected Times You Found Something Awesome In Video Games

8. Gordon Freeman's Skeleton - Metro 2033

This deliciously entertaining survival horror FPS harbours a blackly comic Easter egg for anyone who does a little peeking around at the start of the Trolley Combat level.

Walk around the opening area of the level until you find a bloodstained door, and on entering you'll be met with a skeleton laying next to a crowbar and a pair of glasses.

This is very clearly a nod to Half-Life's protagonist Gordon Freeman, and it's also been speculated that the other skeleton in the room could belong to Gordon's partner in crime, Alyx Vance.

Amusingly, this isn't the dev team's only instance of tipping the hat to Valve's iconic FPS.

Developer 4A Games was founded by former employees of GSC Game World, who made the classic game S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, which also featured Freeman's corpse as an Easter egg (albeit in decidedly less skeletal form).
