10 Unintentionally Hilarious Gaming Cutscenes

For a franchise dearly beloved by so many for its mesmerisingly bright visuals and tantalising inclusion of popular Disney figures in a Square Enix fantasy world, Kingdom Hearts has its share of dark moments that tug on the heartstrings.

The “death” of Goofy is not one of them.

When a Heartless minion shoots a cliff face to unlodge a falling boulder heading straight (though, not quite) for King Mickey, it’s up to Goofy to save the day. Of course, it would have made a lot of sense for the Heartless to simply fire at Mickey directly, if bodily harm was his aim.

And, considering that the boulder only just struck the far taller Goofy on the noggin, it’s immediately clear that simply doing nothing would’ve resulted in the rock flying harmlessly over Mickey’s head. It’s a bit like Peter Crouch taking a bullet meant for an Ewok. In other words, ludicrous.

The whole sequence is a weirdly lengthy clash of tones that leaves the player uncertain whether to laugh, cringe or roll their eyes. By the way, it turns out that Goofy was fine all along; it was just another “bump on the head.” Luckily, few tears were wasted on him in the first place.
