10 Upcoming Video Games Being Sent Out To Die
1. Digimon Survive
Visual novel-RPG Digimon Survive was first announced back in July 2018 and has been subject to numerous delays since, due to both the challenges posed by the pandemic and the decision to change developers mid-development.
Producer Kazumasa Habu recently revealed that, in 2020, original developer Witchcraft was switched out for Hyde to retool the game as a larger-scale, bigger-budget project.
Due to Witchcraft using a proprietary engine, Hyde were unable to use it and had to effectively restart development from scratch, with Habu ultimately having to convince Bandai Namco stakeholders not to cancel the game outright.
None of this is encouraging, and in addition to the perception from many players that it basically resembles a mobile game, it's also being inexplicably released the same day as one of the year's most anticipated RPGs - Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
If people have to choose, the overwhelming majority will pick Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and so Digimon Survive really feels like it doesn't stand a chance at all.
