10 Upcoming Video Games That Prove Single Player Is Far From Dead

Pretty much everyone who had a chance to play the newest iteration of Tomb Raider has come away surprised by how good the games really are. Stripping back the days of an overly sexualised Lara Croft who battled dinosaurs in small caves gave way to a much more relatable interpretation of the English adventurer, her journeys becoming darker but more intriguing as she transformed from a scared girl to a hardened survivor.

The third game in the franchise seeks to finalise this transformation, and if the ominous "Shadow" in the title tells us anything, it's that this is going to be Lara's darkest adventure yet.

Exploring Peru, players will guide the titular Tomb Raider through temples, crypts and vibrant rainforests, all the while having to contend with enemy soldiers, hostile wildlife and the hazardous conditions themselves.

There are also hefty new additions to the gameplay, such as Lara being able to disguise herself with mud Predator style and having rope darts she can use to pull enemies into trees for a stealthy kill.

If Eidos's work on the iconic franchise is anything to go on, Shadow Of The Tomb Raider has a lot going for it. Combining great combat, a vibrant setting and a darker tone, Lara Croft's next adventure should be her most daring to date.
