10 Upcoming Video Games That Will Definitely Flop

When games get sent out to die.

Video Games Fail 2017
Capcom/Microsoft/Sega

2017 has been one hell of a year for video games so far, serving up an historic Q1 that left just about everyone's wallets hurting, and the second half of the year is looking pretty damn stacked too.

That said, not everything is going to end up flying off the shelves, and the downside to having so many great-looking games due for release is that no single person has the time or money to play them all.

Something's gotta give somewhere, and it's probably going to be these games that, regardless of review scores, end up selling below expectations or maybe even flat-out bombing.

Of course, there are always surprises, but if you're betting your chips on any upcoming games to flop, it's gotta be these ten. Either due to heavy competition in their genre, a terrible release date, poor marketing or simply a lack of player interest, it's not looking good for these upcoming titles...

10. Knack II

Knack 2
SCE Japan Studio

Release Date: September 5

Why It Will Flop: Knack II just might be the definition of a game being sent out to die. Not only is it an unexpected sequel to an original game few critics or players actually liked, but it's releasing the day before Destiny 2, and even though the two games have little in common, most gamers will only splash their cash on one, and it sure won't be Knack.

From what's been shown off so far, it wouldn't be at all surprising if this was a relatively improved sequel that nevertheless bombs in sales due to a combination of the original's poor reputation and that ill-advised release date.

Perhaps Sony is counting on the game being a success of counter-programming, of attracting those players who don't want such a full-on, large-scale experience as Destiny 2, but rather something smaller and less intense. It's probably not going to work, though.
