10 Upcoming Video Games We're Most Worried About

7. Halo: Infinite

Death Stranding
343 Industries

Once upon a time, the best thing a game could be was a ‘Halo killer’. Or rather, the second best, as the best thing a game could be was Halo itself. Since then, the titan of the shooter genre has fallen on hard times, and Halo: Infinite might be another misfire.

Halo and Gears were once Microsoft’s two killer apps, and while both franchises are still going, things clearly ain’t what they used to be. If Gears 5’s so-so reviews are indicative of Halo: Infinite’s fate, there might not be all that much to look forward to.

Of course, while both games share a symbolic connection as Xbox’s old big guns, there’s nothing actually linking the two games. Gears 5 won’t have any impact on Halo itself, and developers 343 Industries could yet surprise us. Still, with one eye on their track record, there’s reason to be nervous.

It’s not coming until around this time next year and already has one positive in its corner by bringing back split screen multiplayer. There’s still lots of time for ups and downs right now, but all things considered you can’t blame fans for feeling a little tetchy.
