10 Upcoming Video Games You Need To Know About
9. Blasphemous
Blasphemous has three defining characteristics: its pixelart style, roguelike design and Dark Souls-style mechanics. If you are a fan of either, it may be just the thing for you. In this 2D platformer, the players' main task will be defeating an array of diverse enemies as well as challenging bosses.
One reason to keep an eye on it is that it comes from the creators of The Last Door, an excellent pixel art horror game.
It's important to note that, at least so far, it's not a game that tries to gain popularity on a wave of controversy. While it certainly makes use of occult and religious themes, the intent doesn't seem to be to offend or call out any specified religion.
Blasphemous comes out on PC, and most likely also consoles, sometime in 2019. It certainly has the potential to be the next big thing in the long line of popular roguelike indie games, however it's not a game for everyone.
If you are squeamish or just don't particularly like gore, it may be best to steer clear of this game. The copious amount of blood and guts is all but guaranteed.
